Abstract
The Internet is becoming an increasingly important source of information on cancer.
This article highlights major sites of credible information on cancer and describes the types of information each of these sites contains. Large directories that help point the visitor to additional cancer-related sites are described, as are searchable databases of information on cancer as a disease, its diagnosis, and treatment. Sources of information on chemical carcinogens, mechanistic studies, and applied cancer toxicology are also described. These Internet sources of cancer information address the needs of toxicologists, environmental and occupational health scientists, cancer researchers and clinicians, government regulators, the public, and cancer survivors and their caregivers.

7.5. Specific cancer types
Numerous web sites address specific types of cancer, e.g. cancers of the bladder, brain, breast, colorectal, genitourinary, gynecologic, head and neck, leukemia and lymphoma, lung cancer, myeloma, as well as pancreatic, pediatric, prostate, and skin cancers. The web sites are too fluid to list even representative sites, but
some high quality and informative sites investigated by the authors include the Hypertext Guide to Prostate Cancer (http://www.hypertext.org), the Alliance for Lung Cancer Advocacy, Support, and Education (ALCASE) (http://www.alcase.org), the Colon Cancer Alliance (http://www. ccalliance.org), and the interactive Breast Cancer Awareness site.
