Bill Dyckes, born in Connecticut in 1938, got the bad news in 1997. The procedure he chose was successful, but he will not say what it was because he believes that everyone should do what he did: lots of research. Revealing his choice might lead others to simply say “He obviously did a lot of work, so I'll have what he had.”

This Web site began as a simple explanation for friends. That, in turn, became the overview, and since then many other pages have been added. And more will come. The site is still being written and revised, and the coding is being updated. And the site (or at least the overview) may yet be translated into more languages. Inexpensive, accurate, basic medical information is not available to most of the people in this world. Photocopies of the overview could go a long way to remedy this.

Bill is a writer and editor (and available for reasonably well-paid work in those fields). His resume can be found at www.voiceinoff.com.
